Armand Duka, president of the Albanian Football Federation, has voiced his frustration at Armando Broja’s lack of playing time at Chelsea this season, and wouldn’t mind seeing him join AC Milan.
Broja returned to Chelsea in the summer following a successful loan spell at Southampton last season, where he was a regular under Ralph Hassenhuttl.
He spent the summer being linked with a move away but ultimately stayed at Stamford Bridge due to Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku departing.
It looked as if he would be the first-choice striker, but Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s late arrival only pushed him down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.
That’s stayed the same since Graham Potter’s arrival, with the striker only handed minutes here and there despite Chelsea’s continued struggles up front.
That’s not ideal for a young player who needs regular playing time to develop, and he’s subsequently been linked with a move away in January, with AC Milan one of the interested parties.
Duka would certainly be happy to see that happen, admitting he is frustrated by Broja and other Albanian youngsters spending the season sat on the bench.
“I don’t know if it’s the right way for them to accept the bench,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
“In my opinion it’s better for them to go to clubs capable of playing 90 minutes. They need to play; everyone needs to play but especially these guys who are young.
“He (Broja) was better when he was at Southampton where he almost always played as a starter. Now every game he plays 15-20 minutes and it’s not really the same thing compared to playing 90 minutes.
“I’m interested in him playing and being well, I don’t care where. Then, of course, if he plays at AC Milan even better because I am also a bit of a Milan fan.”
