ESPN Deportes this week features an interview with Newcastle United’s new signing Santiago Muñoz.

The 19-year-old, who’s seen as one of the big youth talents for the future of the national team, has spoken about the experience he’s been living following his transfer to the Premier League club.

Munoz is joining Newcastle on loan from Santos Laguna until the summer of 2022. He has to prove himself in England and hope the Magpies will use the buying option for him.

Still, the teenager claims he feels no pressure for the move, and expects to enjoy his time in the Premier League.

“It’s what we need from the people, that they trust us and we also need to show that we are Mexican and we can do cool things,” Muñoz told ESPN.

“I have to do my thing, trust myself ,and my process has been fast. It’s 18 months, but I’m going to enjoy it. This is a dream that I know is possible.”

“I’m not under pressure, I have a different mentality, I’m calm. I’ve talked to people from Newcastle, but this is no excuse not to fight for a place in the first division.”

Despite his young age, Muñoz had been getting regular playing time in Mexico, having three goals and three assists for Santos Laguna this season. Now with his transfer getting huge attention because of the similarity to the Goal movie, his debut for Newcastle is certainly awaited by many people.
