Following the years spent at Blackburn, Ben Brereton Diaz made this month a comeback to English football.
The winger has just been loaned by Villarreal to Sheffield United until the end of the season, and already scored his first goal for the Blades.
Brereton gave this week a long interview to AS Chile, and talked about this return to England.
There, he admitted he hadn’t missed the country, but claims to be happy about the move.
“The truth is that I enjoyed every minute of my stay at Villarreal, so I didn’t miss my life in England. I enjoyed being in Spain with my family, but for me the important thing was that I spoke to the Sheffield United manager and I knew they would give me more opportunities to play. I already knew a couple of players. As I mentioned, I enjoyed every minute at Villarreal, but not playing football was a conditioning factor.”
“I am enjoying Sheffield. The club has welcomed me well and we’ve had a great start”.
“Yes, when I was young I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League, it is the dream of every young player around the world. For me it was fantastic and also for my family, because I really enjoyed the game, it was a great game and I’m very happy to have scored my first goal in the Premier League.”
Brereton has three appearances for Sheffield United so far. The only one in the Premier League was the 2-2 draw against West Ham United, where he scored that goal.
He also took part in the FA Cup clashes against Gillingham FC and Brighton, with the latest knocking the Blades out of the competition.
We shall now see the impact the striker will have in the club’s campaign to escape from relegation, and whether that’ll result in a permanent transfer.
