With Raúl Jiménez currently injured, Tata Martino made it clear the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker would not be featuring for Mexico during the international break.
The manager didn’t realise how severe the injury was, and the belief is he should be out for a couple more weeks, according to Marca.
In the meantime, the Wolves forward had a chance to have a chat with TUDN, where he talked about his future beyond the Molineux.
The 31-year-old is under contract with Wolverhampton until 2024, and with an exit not being talked about for now, there appears to be nothing to worry about.
However, were he to leave, he already has a destination in mind, with a return to where it all started for him, CF América, something he would like to explore.
Relayed by Mundo Deportivo, he said: “I would like to. It’s always a possibility. I’ve said it since I left, if one day I have to return, I would be delighted. It’s one of the possibilities. If it’s good, go ahead, do it in the best way.”
However, this isn’t something the Wolverhampton forward is thinking about right now, even if he would like to return at an age where he can still contribute.
He added: “Let things flow. If I continue playing here (at Wolves), hopefully for many years, and then I get there at 37, they will say ‘no, hang on a second’, it’s not the same. However, no one knows what will happen, and whatever happens will do so naturally.”
