Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has admitted he would be open to a transfer if the right proposal were to arrive.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been one of the key players for the Bees since he arrived from Blackburn in 2019.

He was a key player in their promotion to the Premier League and maintained that position last season before an injury saw him miss 102 days and 17 games of the campaign.

That was a major blow to Brentford, who struggled without their number one goalkeeper, particularly his ability to play out from the back.

It’s a problem they’ve looked to rectify this summer with the arrival of Thomas Strakosha on a free transfer from Lazio.

He will be competing with Raya for the number one spot this season, with it as yet undetermined who will be Thomas Frank’s first choice.

It has led to some speculation that Raya could depart Brentford at some point and he’s admitted he wouldn’t rule it out.

“If the proposal is good I can’t say I won’t return to Spain,” he told El Larguero on Cadena SER.

“I am very happy and the Premier League does not compare to any other league. Even so, there are doors that open and, if the proposal is good, I can’t say no.

“The important thing is that I am at Brentford and in the Premier League, I have to enjoy it.”
