There seems to be little confidence in France that Paris Saint Germain could sign Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United this summer.

An update from Le Parisien journalist Laurent Perrin, relayed by VIPSG, highlights how hard it would be for the French side to sign the 26-year-old.

It’s said that Guimarães is very well protected by Newcastle, so even though PSG are in the hunt for a new midfielder, they shall have to look at other targets.

“Bruno Guimaraes has a very interesting profile, he’s still young, he knows France and Ligue 1, but he’s under contract with Newcastle until 2028 and I can’t imagine the Saudis doing Qatar any favours,” said Perrin.

Since leaving Lyon for Newcastle on a €42m deal in 2022 and showing a very good level with the Magpies, Guimarães has been reported as a target for PSG.

The Premier League side never seemed very open to negotiating him, though, especially now that the Brazilian recently signed the contract extension mentioned by Perrin.

We should also agree that with the recent departures at PSG, the French club no longer looks like such an attractive place, and perhaps staying in English football is a better deal, not only for Guimarães, but also for other players with that possibility on the table.
