In the past couple of weeks, the Brazilian press has had countless stories about the future of Andrey Santos.

Most of them were linking the Vasco da Gama youngster to Newcastle United, especially with recent reports from the English media regarding Magpies interest.

So as club executive Paulo Bracks today spoke to the Brazilian press, he was asked about the youngster, and couldn’t promise that the player is staying at Vasco for much longer.

“The whole world wants Andrey, but he’s Vasco’s, he has a contract with us, a strong contract, he should go to the U20 South American, and I can’t guarantee what will happen to him,” said Paulo Bracks (via Vasco Notícias).

“I would really like him to stay with us, this year, in this Serie A project of ours, but he is an athlete who, on the market shelf, is being very targeted.”

Recent reports from Brazil claimed that Newcastle are not in a hurry to attempt Andrey Santos’ signing, and should only make an offer once the January transfer window is open.

Besides the Magpies, the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to be in contact for the transfer, and that’s a pretty good sign that Vasco will try to make as much money as possible with the move.

With the Brazilian season only starting in January, that ends up being an interesting time for Newcastle to buy the player instead of waiting for the summer and seeing Vasco being resistant to lose the player in the middle of the campaign.
