Hannover 96 goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler has insisted he is paying no attention to rumours of a possible move to Liverpool and insisted he is happy where he is.
The goalkeeper has been speaking to Kicker regarding his situation at this moment in time amid reports he could be on the move.
A report back in May indicated that Liverpool were interested in the veteran as they look to add experienced back up to their goalkeeping department.
Their interest was seemingly coming from new, interim director of football Jorg Schmadtke, who knows the player well and what he could offer.
The initial report was followed by another claiming he was high on Liverpool’s wish list, and they were ready to pay a seven-figure sum to bring him to Anfield.
There’s been little to no addition to those initial reports at the end of May, though, with Liverpool instead focusing their transfer business elsewhere after a big summer of change in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Adrian has also signed a new contract to keep him with the club until the end of this season, seemingly putting an end to any need to sign Zieler.
That’s not stopped Kicker asking the goalkeeper about Liverpool’s interest, but he insists he has nothing to say on the matter.
“It’s no secret that 96 and Hanover are close to my heart. I feel good, we want to settle down here. I can well imagine extending it and have already signalled that,” he said.
“Over the course of my career, I’ve gotten used to generally not commenting on such topics. I’m here in Hanover and I’ve emphasized again and again that I can imagine staying here for a longer period of time.
“I had signalled that I could imagine staying. 96 knows what they have in me and what I can do. I’m 34 years old now and there are plenty of examples of goalkeepers who have played at the highest level even when they’re older.
“I feel in great shape, and I can well imagine playing football for a few more years. I still have a few good years left.”
