If there’s one story brewing in Italy these days, it’s the belief that Newcastle United really are keen on Victor Osimhen.
That would require Eddie Howe’s side to remain in the Premier League, but if they do, they are now expected to turn their attention to the Nigeria international to bolster their attack in the summer.
There have already been a number of claims regarding an interest, and it’s also been made very clear by the Italian media that the goalscorer would come at a price.
How much will likely depend on how well he does during the second half of the season, but the general consensus is Napoli would ask for anything from €70m upwards.
In fact, some, like journalist Fabio Santini, reckon it would be even more.
He told 7 Gold, relayed by Calcio Napoli 1926: “I have news about Aurelio De Laurentiis’ Napoli. First of all, I can confirm Newcastle’s interest in striker Victor Osimhen, but the president of the club has already made it know that he wants no less than €100m for the player”.
Everyone knows this is a figure the Magpies could reach if they wanted to, although we’ll have to wait and see if they are actually prepared to go that high that quickly.
Although, if their January transfer window is anything to go by, they certainly aren’t afraid to open their wallet.
