With a total of 128 goals in 221 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, it’s fair to call Ian Wright a Gunners legend.
The now 60-year-old has never hidden his love for the club, and he continues to be an active part of the London side, at least from the outside, as revealed by Mika Biereth.
The Arsenal striker is currently on loan at SK Sturm Graz for the rest of the season where the hope was for him to find some game time and the back of the net, which is exactly what’s happening and why he was called up to Denmark’s U21 squad, where he spoke to Bold.
Made available to the media, he was asked the reason why Ian Wright is often seen commenting on the Dane’s posts on Instagram.
The Arsenal man replied: “I call him Uncle Wright. He is an Arsenal legend and someone I can lean on for advice. Before I moved to Austria, I called him to get his opinion. So he’s definitely someone I can use when things aren’t going well or when I need advice.
“He lives in London as well, so every time I’m there, I try and meet him face to face. He takes care of the youngsters at Arsenal, and I think that since I’m a striker and he was a striker, he thought he could help me a bit.”
Much like Wright, it appears that Biereth could be a bit of a later bloomer, only getting a real taste for professional football last year while on loan at RKC Waalwijk.
He struggled a bit there, but found his feet this season during the first half of the campaign at Motherwell with six goals and five assists in 15 appearances for the Scottish side before being called back by Arsenal and sent to Sturm Graz.
There, he has eight goals and an assist in 11 appearances, showing just why the Gunners wanted him from Fulham’s U18s back in 2021.
