Away with Czech Republic’s national team, West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek had a word with the local media ahead of the upcoming games.
The 28-year-old was interviewed by iDNES, and one of the first questions he had to answer was about his good form with the Hammers.
The outlet pointed out he’s been doing pretty well at West Ham this season, and asked if there’s any special reason for that.
“It’s hard to say. I broke my bad luck and it started falling apart. I scored two goals from standard, two from play. I’m very happy about them. I feel good and hopefully it will continue in the next games. Maybe here in Tirana,” Soucek told iDNES.
The Czech Republic will be playing in Albania on Thursday, and the home side have former West Ham fullback Pablo Zabaleta as an assistant manager.
Soucek joined the Hammers in January 2020, just before the Argentine player retired at the end of that season, and he was asked if he remembers their time well.
“A great footballer and a great person. I played with him at West Ham for six months, he gave me a lot of experience. I was glad when I met him after the game in Prague and we exchanged a few words. He said he continues to watch West Ham and supports us.”
Soucek has made ten appearances for West Ham this season, and the reason the Czech media is excited about his form is that he scored four goals in those games, besides getting an assist.
Following the match against Albania, they’ll go home and face Faroe Islands on Sunday.
