KV Mechelen midfielder Aster Vranckx has ruled out a move to Chelsea, claiming it is ‘not the best choice for a teenager’.

17-year-old Vranckx is the latest in a long line of young talent emerging from Belgium at this moment in time, emerging as a star for Mechelen this year despite his young age.

He’s already made his Jupiler Pro League debut, racking up eight appearances so far, and has been tipped for a bright future as a result.

Naturally, several big clubs are thought to be keeping an eye on him, with reports back in October stating that both Manchester City and Manchester United were already keen.

Chelsea have so far not been linked, although it seems inevitable given the Blues history of plucking young talent, such as Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne, from Belgium and their love of Belgian players in general.

Vranckx, though, isn’t interested in a move to Stamford Bridge, insisting it would not be the smartest choice for his ongoing development.

“I am aware that it is not the best choice for a teenager,” he told Sport/Foot Magazine.

“I would be facing too high a level. My manager has never given me a concrete offer from abroad.

“He has the same philosophy as me: I must first confirm myself here and continue my development. I’ve only played a handful of professional matches so far.”
