Last season, Kevin De Bruyne’s appearances for Manchester City were restricted due to injuries and he made 23 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, scoring two goals and registering six assists [only two in the league] in the process.
The 28-year-old matched last season’s tally by registering two assists in his side’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham and has taken his overall tally to three in two league matches.
After last term’s disappointment due to various injuries, Het Belang van Limburg claims the Belgium international is ‘hyper-motivated’ and is seeking a ‘sporting revenge’ this season.
The former Chelsea man’s desire is to play a lot of matches, stay fit and win more trophies.
HBVL also highlights the fact the player has never started a season this well since making his debut. They stress that it’s not just stats, but the ‘football dominance’ he brings to Manchester City has ‘never been greater’.
“Those injuries, that’s a shame, but after my comeback I’m still the same player and the same man. One who wants to help the team. We didn’t get three points [against Spurs], but I am very happy with the level of the entire team,” De Bruyne said after Spurs tie.
HBVL are of the belief the 2019/20 campaign will be a special one for De Bruyne.
Time should tell…
