Fresh off acquiring Josh Maja from Sunderland, Bordeaux didn’t waste any time in their quest to plunder England’s lower leagues, turning their attention to Hull City.
According to 20 Minutes journalist Clément Carpentier, the Ligue 1 side made a move for Markus Henriksen, only to be rebuffed by the Tigers.
The idea would have been to transfer the Norway international this window, but it seems the Championship side, who are currently six points off a playoff spot under Nigel Adkins, aren’t prepared to let their captain leave midway through the season.
Much like they did with Maja, Bordeaux are currently targeting players whose contracts runs out in June 2019, hoping to sign them for a small price.
First arriving on loan from AZ Alkmaar in 2016, Henriksen then signed permanently for Hull in 2017, where he signed a two-year contract.
Yet to renew, the Norwegian midfielder remains a key part of the Tigers’ first-team, starting 25 from a possible 29 games in the Championship this season.
