Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães made an attempt to sign João Pedro Galvão from Hull City in the January transfer window.

That’s according to journalist Venê Casagrande, who reports that Hull were simply uninterested in the deal offered by the Portuguese side.

According to his information, Vitória ‘tried to sign’ the striker but the Championship side turned down the offer that was made.

Vitória were looking to take advantage of the fact that the striker is in the final year of his deal and so offered to sign him on a free transfer, partnering on his economic rights. João Pedro would have signed a two-year deal with the club.

Hull weren’t interested, though, and instead asked for financial compensation in order to sanction an immediate release for the striker.

Casagrande makes no mention of the fee that they would have asked for, or how percentages would have worked in the partnership on economic rights, but the deal was rejected either way.

Whether the Portuguese side now return in the summer remains to be seen but Pedro could be a name to keep an eye on for Hull in case that they do.
