Hull City attacker Abdülkadir Ömür has told the Turkish media that he still thinks about his opportunity to sign for Manchester City.
The Premier League champions were looking to sign the Turkey international earlier in his career, but Trabzonspor, his club at the time, wouldn’t sanction the transfer.
NTV Spor have covered comments the Hull City owned player has made to TRT Spor when reflecting on his career.
Ömür said it still upsets him that the Trabzonspor hierarchy didn’t allow him to sign for Manchester City and that injury has affected his time in football.
“If I could go back, I would cry to Ahmet Ağaoğlu to let me go. After that offer, I had great success, but my career went down after the injury,” said the player on the possibility signing for Manchester City.
The 25-year-old was also asked about his time with Hull City and playing in the English second tier. The winger said the league is more difficult than he expected before he arrived and had high praise for fans not getting on the backs of players.
“The Championship is a league that has exceeded my expectations. You can prepare yourself mentally, but it’s a physical league. The game does not stop. The fans don’t bring down their own players or the opponent,” said Ömür.
Following his struggles with Hull City this season the player was loaned out to Çaykur Rizespor during the last transfer window. Other Super Lig sides were also reportedly in the race to sign him.
He made 21 appearances for Tigers this season, but didn’t register a goal. The former Trabzonspor player is contracted to the Championship side until June 2027.
