Hull City goalkeeper Ivor Pandur has said he’d quite fancy a move to Italy or Spain in the future.

Večernji List have published a detailed interview with the 25-year-old on several topics, including his future plans.

The Hull City player started his career in Croatia with HNK Rijeka. After coming through their ranks, he spent a year with the first team.

HNK Rijeka sold the stopper to Hellas Verona in 2020, and he left them to join Dutch side Fortuna Sittard in 2023. In January 2024, he was sold to the Championship side.

Pandur spent his initial months with the Tigers on the bench. Last season, he became the No.1 for the English club and since then has maintained his place in the starting eleven.

The Croatian’s contract lasts until 2027, with an option for another year. When asked what the next step could be, he mentioned Italy or Spain as two possible destinations. Pandur has also explained his reasons.

Hull City social life very different from Croatia

“I would like to play in Italy again, as well as try my hand in Spain. Of course, it all depends on what will be achieved,” he said.

“I would like to be a little closer to home. We are quite similar to the Spaniards and Italians. Life here is not exactly like that, you play games, you train, and on a day off we do not have our rituals.

“I miss that style of ours. When I think of Croatia, I always think of coffees and lunches or dinners with friends and family, my girlfriend. That lifestyle where we drink coffee and hang out. People here are a little different, they have their own ways of having fun. Mostly it’s golf or a pub.”

The Hull City player is yet to make his debut for Croatia but is pleased that he’s on manager Zlatko Dalić’s radar.

“That’s one thing that makes me proud, as well as my family. Because I know where I come from and it is difficult to succeed in football,” Pandur explained.

“That fact fulfils me. I hope that I am getting closer to that step forward, towards the main list of our coach. I work on it every day, I want to be the best version of myself. And everything else is in God’s hands.”
