Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı has lashed out at Galatasaray vice president Metin Öztürk over match-fixing suggestions.
The Hull City chairman is also actively involved at Fenerbahçe as their vice president and the Yellow Canaries official didn’t hold back when criticising his Galatasaray counterpart.
Earlier today, Ilıcalı addressed the Turkish media and Sports Digitale took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to relay his comments.
At the weekend, Galatasaray sealed a 3-2 win over Sivasspor and Barış Alper Yılmaz got his name on the scoresheet.
Towards the end of the tie, Barış Alper Yılmaz picked up an injury following a tackle from Sivasspor’s Rey Manaj and was stretchered off the field.
Manaj received a yellow card and after the tie, Öztürk accused the Sivasspor player for intentionally causing harm to Barış Alper Yılmaz because of his relationship with Fener.
On Monday, Fenerbahçe issued an official statement on X, dismissing Öztürk’s wild suggestion. The Hull City chief has now joined in to launch another attack on the Gala official and has urged them to look into his comments.
“I call out to Galatasaray; Your manager’s speech represents you. Your manager has made an ugly allusion to match-fixing,” he said.
“He implied that we were cheating on the management issue. Have you ever seen such a shameless statement or a vulgar accusation in your life? As long as such clowns make statements, Turkish football will be dragged into chaos.”
It’ll be interesting to see whether Galatasaray will respond to Ilıcalı’s statements.
