It appears there has been a big problem in Burnley’s attempts to sign Soumaïla Coulibaly from Borussia Dortmund.
That comes from L’Equipe in France, who claim that despite the player having undergone his medical ahead of the transfer to Turf Moor, it’s now all off.
Despite ‘everything seemingly done’ between Burnley and the Bundesliga giants, the two clubs are now ‘far from an agreement’.
It’s claimed the clubs were not able to finalise their agreement at the last minute, and ‘everything now needs to be redone’.
Therefore, the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster, who left the Ligue 1 side for Germany on a free transfer two years ago, is ‘far from being able to sign’ for Burnley.
The 19-year-old has made just two appearances for Borussia Dortmund since his arrival in 2021, with one of them coming in the Bundesliga, while the other was a 17 minute cameo in the Champions League.
Whether Burnley try again remains to be seen, but this is a big blow for Vincent Kompany, who might have to look elsewhere to bolster the heart of his defence.
