On August 31st, Leeds United signed Glen Kamara from Rangers and offered him a four-year deal.
Two days later, the Finland international made his debut for the Whites in their goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday.
The new Leeds player has joined the Finland camp for the international break and that allowed local newspaper Ilta-Sanomat to have a chat with him.
Kamara spent over four years at Rangers before leaving them for the Championship side.
The midfielder was linked with a move away from Ibrox midway through the last window and Ilta-Sanomat state he had other options before he decided to join Daniel Farke’s side.
According to Ilta-Sanomat, the 27-year-old became aware of Leeds interest towards the end of the market, and he explained why it didn’t take long for him to decide to make a switch to Elland Road.
“When this came to my attention, I was very interested in it. It’s a huge club with a great history, good coaches and good players. I know the fan base is passionate. Everything was right with this option,” Kamara explained.
Teemu Pukki had played under Farke when the pair were at Norwich City, and Kamara had held talks with his compatriot before joining Leeds.
“He [Farke] said he saw me play. I would guess that he has also seen me play for Finland, but also at Rangers. I spoke with Teemu and he had nothing but good things to say about the coach. That made my decision easier,” Kamara added.
Leeds were relegated from the Premier League last season and Kamara is hopeful of returning to the top flight with the Whites next year.
