Carlo Ancelotti has received an offer to manage Manchester United, should he not remain at Real Madrid next summer.

That’s according to El Chiringuito journalist Benjamin Lopez, who says the Italian coach has received three offers and one of them is from Manchester United.

Ancelotti is currently in the final year of his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and yet to sign an extension to his deal.

He’s been heavily linked with Brazil, who have been keen for the best part of a year and pushed hard to get him in this year following their disappointment in Qatar.

Ancelotti seemed keen on the job but wanted to remain loyal to Madrid and see out his contract there if an amicable deal couldn’t be done between the relevant parties.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are currently managed by Erik ten Hag but the pressure has been growing on the Dutchman following a poor start to the season.

Some have already been calling for him to be replaced and the imminent arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who will be taking over football operations as part of his investment, could lead to changes in the football operation.

Whether that leads to a change of manager remains to be seen and seems unlikely, given there has been strong backing of Ten Hag this summer and the club remains happy with him.

Nonetheless, it’s claimed they’re looking around and El Chiringuito say that’s led them to approach Ancelotti about the idea.

“Ancelotti has two things decided about his future, one is that if they offer him a renewal he will remain at Madrid. Brazil can put whatever they want on the table, he will stay,” he said.

“The second is that he has three offers for next year if he doesn’t continue in Madrid, which is dependent on Florentino Perez’s decision.

“He has three offers, not only the one from Brazil. One is to manager the Canadian National Team, which appeals sentimentally. He has a house in Vancouver and his wife is Canadian so he would be delighted with that. He would finish his career there and has an offer in writing, but he prefers Brazil.

“The last is not an offer in writing but has been sent to him verbally through his agent, it’s from the Premier League and Manchester United. They would take him tomorrow.

“However, he doesn’t want to return to the Premier League and coach any club. He would be willing to coach Brazil but what he really wants is to stay in Madrid. That can happen if things go well this season.”

El Chiringuito is Real Madrid leaning so these claims need to be taken in that context. Stating Ancelotti will turn down multiple offers to stay at Los Blancos feels on brand.
