When Kevin De Bruyne came off against Burnley, there was a lot of worry going around the Manchester City fanbase, as it was very reminiscent of his exit against Inter Milan.
At first, news trickled through that the midfielder would miss the Sevilla game, which isn’t a huge deal, but La Derniere Heure in Belgium have rather bad news for City fans.
That’s because they claim the Manchester City midfielder will ‘likely need surgery’ and will be out for ‘a number of months’.
DH state that physios at the club have decided that surgery ‘is necessary’, and while it hasn’t been made official by the club just yet, it’s said going under the knife is ‘very probable’.
They expect Guardiola to touch on the subject in his press conference on Tuesday, but one of the reasons why they are taking drastic action is because, after two incidents, they don’t want a third to happen later on.
DH explain that surgery had already been discussed after the Inter Milan setback, but it never happened.
Now, like Thibaut Courtois, De Bruyne will ‘likely not play again in 2023’, and Manchester City are hoping he will be 100% for the second half of the campaign.
