According to Hurriyet, Huddersfield Town defender Mathias Zanka has arrived in Istanbul at 4am local time and is now very close to completing his transfer to Fenerbahce.
At the airport, Zanka was welcomed by Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli and the Super Lig club’s board member Selahattin Baki.
Earlier reports from the Turkish press claimed the 29 year old will join the Istanbul club on a three-year contract and Fenerbahce will pay in the region of €3.5m to Huddersfield Town to make the deal happen.
The Turkish side have throughout this transfer window have been looking to bring in a experienced central defender and it appears they’ve done this by signing the former PSV player.
Zanka joined Huddersfield Town at the start of 2017/18 season and has made 65 appearances for the Terriers. However, with the West Yorkshire side’s relegation to the Championship it always seemed likely he would move on this this summer.
He had a year left on his current Huddersfield contract.
