AS Roma’s Edoardo Bove snubbed Nottingham Forest and others to join Fiorentina on a loan deal with an option to buy on deadline day.
Nottingham Forest had shown keen interest in the 22-year-old towards the end of the window.
AS Roma manager Daniele De Rossi left the midfielder out of his plans this season. On August 29th, Corriere dello Sport reported the Italian had said yes to the Reds, after they made a €10m offer to the Giallorossi.
Eintracht Frankfurt then tried to hijack the deal from Nottingham Forest. In the end, both Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and the Bundesliga side failed to acquire his services.
Bove’s agent Diego Tavano has been speaking to Radio Firenze Viola about Nottingham Forest’s failed attempt to sign his client. His comments are relayed by Tifo Granata.
Roma’s decision to leave Bove out of their plans this season forced his agent to look for options in the market. The Premier League side were a firm candidate to sign the player, before he decided to make a switch to Fiorentina.
“It was a special summer for Edoardo. We can’t explain why, but there wasn’t room for him at Roma and so we started looking around. There were several solutions: the hottest was Nottingham [Forest], but also Ligue 1,” he said.
“Having brought Richardson before him during the summer, I understood that Fiorentina had something important to say. In Florence there is a great history as well as a serious club with a high-level project, as demonstrated by Viola Park.”
