Mundo Deportivo, on behalf of Atletico Madrid, won’t give Sandro up to Everton without a fight. Whilst acknowledging reports that Sandro could be close to a move from Malaga to Everton, the Spanish newspaper points out that Atletico remains a viable alternative.

The idea would be for Atletico to sign Sandro for his €6m buyout clause, and then loan him back to Malaga for the first half of the season. That would get around Atletico’s failure to have their transfer ban reduced.

It’s possible, but maybe not a huge worry for Everton. Diego Costa has increasingly become a target for Atletico once again over the past few days, and Sandro probably wouldn’t want to play back up to the Spanish international.

If Sandro is ready for a move now then he may not want to stay at Malaga until the winter transfer window and then move half way through the season. Everton’s interest is being taken seriously again in Spain, even if it seems they’d rather he remained in La Liga.
