Spanish side Sevilla are hoping Everton can’t get a loan deal for Youssef En-Nesyri over the line. Why? Because they’ll miss out of a transfer percentage that they desperately need.
Diario de Sevilla provide the details today. They explain how Everton’s potential loan deal for the Moroccan is bad news for Sevilla.
The newspaper follows up reports that Everton are the most interested club in En-Nesyri at this moment in time. According to various reports, they are in negotiations with Fenerbahce about a loan until the end of the season. That would reportedly include a €20m option to buy.
Those reports have indicated that negotiations are progressing smoothly. If they are conclude, it would be bad news for Sevilla. That’s because such a deal wouldn’t bring them any financial benefits.
They sold En-Nesyri to Fenerbahce in 2024 for €20m. That includes a 10% sell-on clause. But that clause wouldn’t be activated, even if Everton do buy the striker for €20m in the summer. It appears that the clause only activates for full transfers, not loans with an option.
Thus, there is a feeling that the deal Victor Orta negotiated has ‘backfired’ on the Spanish club. While they received a substantial sum, they had hope for more from his time in Türkiye. They had even gotten excited when there was interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
They were certainly ‘far superior’ to what Everton are offering. And, crucially, they would have generated significant revenue that Sevilla desperately need. Now they look destine to miss out entirely.
Everton claims not so concrete yet anyway
The good news is, that despite the reports, Everton’s interest can be taken with a hefty pinch of doubt for now. The interest only started from sketchy sources in Türkiye, and it’s been pointed out for over a week that he doesn’t fancy the Premier League because of the weather.
The idea has also, so far, been disputed in England. Reports there have insisted there’s nothing happening with Everton as yet. So, by all accounts, Sevilla don’t need to lament just yet.
In addition, when Nottingham Forest were linked last week it was made clear the player doesn’t fancy the weather in England.
