As Aston Villa winger Philippe Coutinho is currently linked with moves to Qatar and Saudi Arabia, it seems Barcelona have big interest in that potential transfer.
The situation is today highlighted by Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, who feature a story saying the Camp Nou side are watching the whole scenario.
It’s recalled that when Barcelona sold Coutinho to Aston Villa in 2022 for €20m, it was agreed that 50% of a future sale profit would go to the La Liga giants.
Now since it’s well known that Barça aren’t in great financial conditions, they’re hopeful that the Brazilian moves for a big amount.
The hypothetical situation used by Mundo Desportivo has Coutinho moving to the Middle East for €40m, and that means Aston Villa would need to send his former club €10m.
We must just point out that Coutinho is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €10m, and that has a lot to do with his situation at Aston Villa, as he currently doesn’t hold a big status in Unai Emery’s squad.
That’s why the hope coming from Barcelona is perhaps verging on desperation.
