On June 26th, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Torino have rejected Crystal Palace’s €25m bid for Perr Schuurs.
Earlier this month, Tuttosport stated the Eagles are in contact with the defender’s agent over a deal in the summer window, before DAZN claimed a second, this time bigger €35m bid had been made.
A latest report from today’s Tuttosport states Roy Hodgson is leading Crystal Palace’s pursuit to sign the 23-year-old.
It’s explained that the manager has ‘expressly indicated’ the London club to secure the centre-back’s services to bolster his side’s defence. Apart from the London club, Liverpool are also showing interest in the Dutchman.
The Eagles won’t offer European football to Schuurs and don’t have the same appeal as the Reds. Despite this, Crystal Palace have taken a step further on Wednesday to ‘burn’ competition Jürgen Klopp’s side.
Tuttosport states Torino president Urbano Cairo, who’s keen to set up an auction, wants €40m for the star. Liverpool have offered €30m but are currently behind Crystal Palace in the transfer race.
It’s claimed Hodgson’s side are offering more money to both the player and Torino.
The newspaper states an offer of €3m net per season has been made to Schuurs while a bid of €35m plus bonuses is proposed to the Turin club.
Whether this is enough to secure the player’s services remains to be seen.
