Brentford have now all but sealed a deal for Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode.
The youngster has already bid farewell to the Italian side, expressing his gratitude towards Fiorentina.
The 20-year-old will soon undergo a medical with Brentford, as he prepares to join on an initial loan and option to buy deal.
Some words of encouragement for the Bees have arrived from Kayode’s former coach Antonio Soda, who worked with the defender during his time at Gozzano.
In an interview with ViolaNews, Soda said the Italian will have no problems settling into life at Brentford.
He’s quoted as saying: “How can he adapt to the Premier League? In my opinion, well, because his characteristics are right for that type of football. I don’t think he’ll have big difficulties.”
Speaking further, Soda insisted that there is still a possibility of Kayode returning to Fiorentina at the end of the season.
“The important thing is that he carves out a space to play, so he can also return to Florence and do better than before.
“He’s someone who never gives up, he always gives his all. He’s an important player, I don’t think Fiorentina will want to get rid of him so easily.”
Considering how the London club only have an option to buy the player permanently, Kayode’s performances could determine his future in the Premier League.
That might not be a major challenge, largely because he was a regular for La Viola last season, playing over 2000 minutes in all competitions.
His game time did go down this season but he could get regular football at Brentford, who could yet lose Mads Roerslev in the January transfer window.
