Yan Couto is yet to make an appearance for Manchester City since he arrived at the Etihad from Brazilian side Coritiba in 2020.
The Citizens loaned him out to Girona that year before sending the 20-year-old out on a temporary deal to Braga in 2021. Last summer, he returned to the Spanish club on a season-long loan deal.
Fussball Transfers now state there’s no clarity over the Manchester City owner player’s future.
The defender’s contract with the English champions runs down in 2025. The report states there is a possibility the ‘highly talented right-back could finally be given’ a chance at Manchester City next season.
At the moment, Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t yet communicated their plans to either Couto or his representatives. This is likely to be made clear in the coming weeks or months.
The South American having a chance to represent Manchester City depends on the future of Kyle Walker and João Cancelo [currently on loan at Bayern Munich]. If the latter two were to leave, Couto could be included in Guardiola’s plans next season.
If not, the Brazilian could be headed for another loan move in the summer.
