West Ham United midfielder Guido Rodríguez has given his approval to Grêmio, who have accelerated negotiations in the last few hours.
That’s according to Record. They cover the midfielder today and his apparent imminent exit from the London Stadium.
They report that Rodríguez is looking to regain prominence to secure a place in Argentina’s World Cup squad this summer. Grêmio have been working on a deal for a few days and have now accelerated the talks.
The midfielder has already given his approval to the Brazilian club. He had considered his options in the European market before doings so. Record report that ‘local media outlets’ are reporting he’s prioritising playing time over better financial offers.
Grêmio have also sent an offer to West Ham. That’s worth around €3m. Only the Hammers’ final approval is needed for the transfer to be officially completed.
The directors at the Porto Alegre club remain ‘highly optimistic’ due to Rodríguez’s apparent willingness to join them. They see the Argentine as the ideal pillar for their defensive system. The arrival of a World Cup winner would represent a huge leap in quality for them.
If West Ham accept the proposal, which is expected, Rodríguez could travel in the coming days for his medical.
