Tottenham Hotspur are now being edged out of the transfer race for Nahitan Nandez, with the whole situation starting to look overly hyped.
Leeds United were linked to the Cagliari player for several months, and at times it looked like Marcelo Bielsa’s side were being used, potentially by agents, to hype the situation around Nandez and perhaps encourage Inter Milan to make a big offer.
Tottenham were then pulled in, and we stated from the start that there was a chance Spurs were also being used. However, there was insistence in Italy of Fabio Paratici making real attempts.
La Nuova Sardegna now report Tottenham ‘seem to have abandoned’ the transfer, because they feel Cagliari are asking ‘too high a price’. The Serie A side were asking for a €10m loan payment, and a further €20m as a redemption guarantee, meaning the deal would have cost Spurs €30m.
According to the Sardinia newspaper, the London club didn’t want to go beyond €20-22m in total.
Inter Milan have also walked away, and now there’s the possibility of a move to Atalanta.
The Bergamo side are proposing a deal which would see striker Sam Lammers go the other way as part of the transfer, potentially seeing an exchange of loans.
