Last week, we covered an interesting scouting mission made by Sheffield Wednesday, as the Championship side watched a Champions League match between Benfica and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Now the Owls have been back to the Estádio da Luz this Sunday, and this time, they’ve seen the Eagles playing Vitória de Setúbal. And they weren’t the only British side attending this match, since Hibernian had representatives there as well.

It’s newspaper A Bola who reports the scouting mission from these clubs, although it’s not clear who Sheffield Wednesday or Hibernian were having an eye on.

Paul Heckingbottom’s club aren’t one of those who often have someone on Portuguese scouting lists, so this particular mission of transfer window shopping is something new for Hibernian.

Benfica didn’t have much trouble beating Vitória 4-2 and keep themselves on top of the league table. Rafa Silva, who scored a brace, was the man of the match, while wonderkid João Félix had a great performance once again.

For the away side, Johan Cadiz, Éber Bessa and Berto were the responsible for giving Benfica some trouble, although that couldn’t be enough.

It’s hard to think which Benfica player Wednesday or Hibernian could attract. Adel Taarabt had some minutes in the match, and was linked to Championship sides in January, so maybe he’s a possible target.

On the other hand, signing someone from Vitória shouldn’t be a problem, certainly not for Sheffield Wednesday, since the Championship has been proving to be an attractive league for Portuguese players lately.
