Manchester United came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 in the Premier League on Thursday.
Amad Diallo inspired the Red Devils’ comeback with a hattrick in 12 minutes, after he scored his first in the 82nd minute. Christian Eriksen came off the bench to assist the 22-year-old’s second goal, but his future at Manchester United needs to be clarified.
The Denmark international has less than six months left on his contract and recent claims in the UK have stated Manchester United could let him leave in the winter market.
On Christmas Eve, FC Midtjylland manager Thomas Thomasberg revealed his club have thought about signing the midfielder. He also stated their league rivals, FC Copenhagen, OB and Brøndby have considered bringing Eriksen back to the country.
Tipsbladet now state it’s ‘natural to speculate’ Copenhagen as an option for the 32-year-old, if he decides to make a move to Denmark.
Copenhagen sporting director Sune Smith-Nielsen has been speaking to Bold, relayed by Tipsbladet, where he asked about signing the Manchester United player.
Responding to that, he said: “He’s a very skilful player. Christian is a Danish international and plays for Manchester United. Why don’t we just say that he’s a great international profile? And then I won’t comment any further.”
If Eriksen were to continue at Manchester United beyond this window, he’s then likely to leave them as a free agent in the summer.
