Chelsea invested heavily in making new additions to their squad since the Todd Boehly led consortium replaced Roman Abramovich as the club’s owners last year.
Kalidou Koulibaly was one of the players to join the Blues and he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Napoli last summer.
Wednesday’s Gazzetta dello Sport have a report on those players who could leave Chelsea and the 31-year-old’s name is included in the list.
The centre-back has been a regular for the west London club when he has been available for selection. He’s featured 31 times, managing two goals and an assist in the process.
It’s claimed the Senegal international’s first season in the Premier League has not gone as planned due to his ‘limitations, injuries and above all because Chelsea had their worst season in the last 20 years’.
Gazzetta state Chelsea have already replaced the defender with Benoît Badiashile, who joined AS Monaco in January.
Therefore, when talking about the Senegal international, the report states ‘he’s for sale’ after the end of this season.
Chelsea invested €40m to acquire Koulibaly’s services and would be hoping to recover part of the fee they paid to the Naples club in the next window.
If a sale isn’t possible, the London club could let Koulibaly go out on loan, with Juventus ready to step forward for a temporary deal.
