At the weekend Beskitas continued their dismal start to the campaign following a 4-1 defeat to Trabzonspor. The Black Eagles have dropped into the relegation zone following this latest loss.
Abdullah Avci’s side have now shipped 10 goals in three away matches in the league this season and his first-choice goalkeeper Loris Karius has again been questioned in the Turkish media.
Speaking to TV show 90+, Turkish pundit Ali Ece said the Liverpool loanee isn’t a better goalkeeper than Fulham’s Fabri, who played for Besiktas between 2016 and 2018: “Avci is still trying to improve Karius’ passing. He’s past that. You can’t teach these kinds of skills at that age. He isn’t Fabri. You can’t expect him to distribute the ball better than him.”
The German goalkeeper has made a terrible start to the season just like his team, and he’s conceded a total of 16 goals in just 7 games.
His loan contract with the Turkish club will expire at the end of the season and it seems unlikely at this stage they will make his move from Liverpool permanent.
It also looks like Karius doesn’t have a future at Anfield and he may have a decision to make on his next step at the end of the season.
