Recent days have seen a surprise link between Sofyan Amrabat and Tottenham Hotspur emerge.
The idea is that should Tanguy Ndombele leave the Premier League club before the end of the month, they’ll need to get a replacement in, and Amrabat is a player Antonio Conte would be keen on.
Given the story has been building, especially in the Italian sport media, Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade was asked about it on Monday evening.
Appearing on a Sport Italia show, Prade was asked directly about talks with Tottenham, and whilst he dodged speaking specifically about Spurs, he did make it clear that a transfer is possible before the winter market ends.
TMW quote Prade as saying: “We have had contacts with many teams. Our market, after the purchases we made, is designed only to try to please those who played less and he is one of them. He is strong and wants to play more. In his role there is Torreira and someone like him suffers if he does not play.”
Amrabat, who has a contract with Fiorentina lasting until June 2024, has had less than 250 minutes in Serie A this season, and recently dropped out of the club’s matchday squad for the competition.
Whether he’d get the prominence he’s searching for at Tottenham is questionable, and he’d likely just be a squad option for Conte.
