Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko has been warned he is not good enough for Chelsea, and should remain with the German side this summer.

That’s according to legend Jürgen Kohler, who has urged the youngster to seriously consider his options amid the race for his signature.

He’s spoken to SportBILD, who cover the situation around the striker today as numerous clubs try to convince him to join on a free and Dortmund battle to keep hold of him.

The newspaper explains that Moukoko’s future Is ‘more uncertain than ever’ as there is no clear trend behind the scenes at this moment in time.

His agent, Patrick Williams from the Wasserman Agency, is talking to Dortmund about an extension but also ‘numerous other clubs’ around Europe.

Chelsea and Barcelona are the ‘most prominent’ of the interested parties, something Dortmund are aware of. They have already raised their offer several times, offering an annual salary of around €5.5m including bonuses and just over €10m in ‘hand money’.

They are also trying to convince Williams with a ‘hefty extra payment’ in addition to the classic consultant commission he would earn.

Moukoko’s side want a higher basic salary for their man, though, and know that would be much more readily available from the big clubs abroad. Chelsea are certainly happy to splash the cash under Todd Boehly.

Dortmund consider their offer as ‘extremely reasonable’ and will not extend it at any price, hence why Moukoko is continuing to negotiate elsewhere and not put pen to paper.

The next negotiation summer between the player and BVB is set to take place soon. At that point a decision should be made, and according to Kohler, the choice is an easy one.

“I think the player must know exactly what he has in the club, the city and the people,” he told the newspaper.

“If he doesn’t accept that and thinks about the business side of things, then Borussia Dortmund should also say: “This is as far as you go and no further, then you have to go. Then you lose a promising talent – but the emphasis is on ‘talent’, not on ‘finished player’.”

“Moukoko always got his playing time in Dortmund, not only because of Haller’s absence. Edin Terzic strives to integrate and develop the young talents, similar to what Jürgen Klopp has done.

“Moukoko should recognise this and not jeopardise it. Chelsea or Barcelona? He’s not good enough for that yet!”
