Last week wasn’t the best one in Erling Haaland’s usually flawless football career. Away during the international break, he suffered a horrendous 5-1 defeat to Austria and faced criticism in Norway.

He captained the side for that clash and caught some negative attention, when he refused to speak to reporters in the aftermath of the defeat. Every other player spoke to the media, but the City star just walked away.

As a result, Haaland faced criticism in the Norwegian media. Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored in the defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, has now defended his compatriot.

In a chat with VG, it was also revealed that Larsen was Haaland’s travel partner over the international break, suggesting the two are pretty close.

He said: “He is just a human being, he too, with a slightly different life to everyone else. It’s fun to be around him, and today it was fun to play against him, too.”

On asked whether the Norwegian press pays too much attention to Haaland, Larsen said:

“Well, I don’t want to talk too much about it… maybe!”

It’s clear the goalscorer is well liked by his teammates in the Norway dressing room and Larsen won’t say a bad word against him.

Larsen’s attention will now turn away from defending his compatriot to trying to help Wolves get out of the negative groove they’ve found themselves in this season.
