The Mexican national team is now said to be waiting for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez.
As reported by W Deportes, part of the squad arrived in Girona for their preparation for the World Cup. For now, they only have the players who feature in Liga MX and some youngsters who will help in the training sessions, as they wait for the European break.
The outlet writes that the national team now wait to know if Raul Jimenez, who’s currently at Wolves, will be fit to join them. It’s said they’ll ‘wait until the last moment’.
The good news is that there seems to be some positive expectations from their camp. When their national team president Jaime Ordiales spoke to the local media on Tuesday, he was optimistic about the striker joining them in the preparation.
“He’s doing quite well, he’s been improving little by little and I think that now his team is evaluating him and we hope he can quickly join the team there in Girona too”, said Ordiales (via El 10).
Raul Jimenez had been recovering from a hip injury in Mexico, and wasn’t even expected to return to Wolves at first.
According to the Mexican media, he was told by the club to return and be examined by team doctors. Now it sounds like his presence at the World Cup is mostly in the Premier League side’s hands.
