Turkish 1. League side Altinordu’s manager Huseyin Eroglu has spoken to Futbol Arena during U12 Izmir Cup, an event organised by the club.
Eroglu spoke about his former player Caglar Soyuncu, who was recently linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester City by the English press.
Ramping things up a little, Eroglu agreed with the Manchester City claims, but dragged their neighbours Manchester United in as well.
Soyuncu, who’s a product of Altinordu’s brilliant academy, joined Freiburg two seasons ago and is impressing for Bundesliga side.
Eroglu said he expects his former player and ‘friend’ to go to England, and said:
“I think Caglar will go to England at the end of the season. He came from our own academy and is now doing well in the Bundesliga. For me, he’ll go to Manchester United or Manchester City at the end of the year and be one of the best defenders.”
Freiburg signed Soyuncu for €2.5m back in 2016, and Altınordu are owed 30% of his next sale, so the idea of a battle between Manchester City and Manchester United would be welcome.
The 22 year old defender has played 27 games for Freiburg this season and managed to score one goal. It doesn’t look like the level of experience Jose Mourinho is looking to add at Old Trafford, and maybe any Manchester City interest would involve signing Soyuncu and loaning him out.
