With David De Gea not having a great season at Manchester United, a few names have been linked to the Red Devils in the past few months.
One of them is FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, who, according to the Portuguese media, is wanted by Erik ten Hag’s side this summer.
So as Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot spoke on Tuesday to his home country’s press (via Mais Futebol), he was asked about his former Porto teammate and his potential move to Manchester United.
Dalot didn’t really want to say a lot about Costa joining him at Old Trafford, and tried to only make some compliments towards the Dragons’ star.
“I grew up with him, he’s my friend, there’s a great relationship between us and I know perfectly well that he has the capacity to one day be a world reference. I don’t know if he’ll be at Manchester United or another big club in Europe.
“He shows at FC Porto that he is a differential goalkeeper and has helped the club a lot. If he continues there, I’ll be extremely happy. If he leaves, I hope he has the greatest success in the world.”
Diogo Costa has conceded 27 goals and kept 19 clean sheets in 38 matches for Porto this season.
His links with Manchester United have been ongoing for months, with local reports always pointing out that he’s protected by the Dragons with a €75m release clause.
Porto know he’s a very wanted man in the transfer market, and his agent Jorge Mendes will surely be busy with interested clubs this summer.
