It’s probably fair to say that Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne had a very satisfying recovery from his injury.

Despite missing out on most of the season, he already has very good numbers for Pep Guardiola’s side, with two goals and 13 assists in 14 appearances so far.

Belgian outlet RTBF today shares some quotes from physiotherapist Lieven Maesschalck. He was interviewed by Het Laatste Nieuws to speak about the situation of some national team players, and the Manchester City midfielder was among them.

The doctor praised the English club for the way they treated De Bruyne, claiming that was crucial for the player to have such a good recovery.

“It is important that Kevin signals when the load is too high. Fortunately, he is well supported and benefits from all the data to intervene preventively if necessary. This is what has been done in recent months.

The return to training and playing but there is also the succession of matches. This again requires a different load. They took this into account at City, reintegrating him little by little but also leaving him to rest for certain matches.”

Maesschalck also claimed that the time off certainly helped De Bruyne to be at his best again, and the player has all the conditions to do well in the Euro with Belgium.

“Having been able to disconnect for a few months, it must have done incredibly well for his body. He was able to fully recover and for me, it’s as if he was born again.”

“Will we see the best De Bruyne at the Euro? Certainly. The more intensity he uses, the better he will be. If he manages to avoid further injuries, he will certainly make the difference at Euro.”

Despite having 99 appearances for the national team, De Bruyne hasn’t played for them for about a year now, as he last featured in a friendly against Germany in March.

Now he seems ready to show his best again, just like he’s been doing at Manchester City.
