Arsenal’s Cristhian Mosquera is pleased to be training with Viktor Gyökeres at the Premier League club.

Friday’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS carries an interview with Mosquera, who discussed his life at Arsenal.

The centre-back spent five years at Valencia’s youth system before he was promoted to the first team in 2021. He was there for four more years before leaving them for Arsenal in July.

During the last window, Arsenal strengthened their attack by signing Gyökeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke. The 21-year-old defender says coming up against the Swedish striker helps him progress.

“He’s a beast, an animal. Training with him helps defenders improve. There were great players at Valencia, but training with this type of player is a huge leap,” he said.

Gyökeres has been leading the north London club’s attack. Mosquera made two league starts and one each in the Champions League and the EFL Cup.

Arteta asking about tiredness after Arsenal matches

When asked whether he notices the difference after making the jump to the Premier League, Mosquera explained: “The Premier League is very different, but I’m loving it.”

“I’m handling that direct style of play well. Arteta always asks me after matches how tired I am, but I’m feeling very good. I grew up with the La Liga style, but people always told me that my style of play was suitable for the Premier League. I think they were right.”

Arsenal have won their first two matches in the Champions League. They are top of the league table, a point ahead of second placed Liverpool. The Spain U21 international says the Gunners are competing in all competitions.

“Yes, we have in mind to go for everything. There’s a very good team, and we’re capable,” he added.

Mosquera has also explained he was convinced to join Arsenal after having a chat with Mikel Arteta.
