Brighton and Hove Albion are increasingly confident that Diego Gómez’s injury will not significantly disrupt his momentum, and attention is already turning back to what comes next for the midfielder.

The 21-year-old has been one of the club’s standout developing players this season. That upward trajectory looked at risk when he picked up a knee issue against Tottenham.

However, as we just covered, the situation now appears less serious than initially feared. His recovery is progressing well, and a return is expected sooner rather than later.

With that concern easing, focus has naturally shifted back to his future.

Agent addresses transfer situation

In the same chat with Paraguayan radio Versus, Diego Gómez’s agent, Renato Bittar, was asked directly about the growing interest from major clubs and whether the recent injury changes anything.

“No, it doesn’t change much. In my view, some of what’s being said isn’t true. There are many eyes on Diego, from important clubs, and that remains the same. Everything will continue as normal.”

Bittar made it clear that interest in the Brighton midfielder is already established. At the same time, he played down some of the more speculative claims.

When pressed on whether a move could happen even before the World Cup, he kept his response measured.

“No… based on what he’s doing, and considering the short time he’s had, there are already people who are interested. If he keeps going like this, that’s probably the natural path things will take”, he said.

“We don’t know when, we don’t know where, so for now there’s not much to say about that. But we’re attentive, and like any player, when the time comes, he’ll want the right move – no more, no less.”

When asked if interest belong to a ‘Big Six’ side, Bittar bluntly replied: “Yes! What more would you want?”.

As we have been following, Manchester City is his main suitor for now.

What happens next

There is confirmed interest. There is strong performance data backing it up. And there is now a clear indication from Diego Gómez’s camp that movement is likely at some stage.

At the same time, timing remains the key variable. Bittar hinted that the World Cup could act as a major turning point.

“There are players who look like they’re going to keep growing, and we want that, like with any player”, he said.

That aligns with what has already been reported. The expectation in Paraguay is that Gómez could see his market explode after the tournament, when global attention increases.

So Brighton now have a young, high-performing player attracting elite interest. They also have time on their side, especially with the player’s development still trending upward.

If Gómez returns quickly from injury and maintains his current level, the coming months could define both his short-term role with the Seagulls and his longer-term future at the top end of the market.
