As Odysseas Vlachodimos was today seen leaving Lisbon, there are no doubts he’ll soon be announced by Nottingham Forest as a new signing.
It turns out that after the goalkeeper was spotted, the Portuguese media also saw his agent Ulisses Santos, who stopped to have a chat with them.
Record quotes the representative claiming Vlachodimos made ‘history’ at Benfica, despite not confirming that Nottingham Forest is his destination.
“It’s football. I just want to say that Vlachodimos will go down in Benfica’s history. He’s the foreign goalkeeper with the most games for Benfica. He’ll be missed.”
The agent’s comments are seen as a bit of a message for Benfica, as Vlachodimos ended up leaving through the back door after being dropped by manager Roger Schmidt.
Santos was also asked about the fallout between the player and coach, and didn’t want to make many comments about that.
“There’s nothing to say, everything’s fine. There’s no hurt feelings. He leaves Benfica with his duty fulfilled and with titles. He’s not hurt. He loves Benfica. He loves the Benfica universe.”
According to reports from the Portuguese media, Nottingham Forest will spend €10m to sign Vlachodimos from Benfica, with performance bonuses included. He’s set to sign a five-year deal with the City Ground side.
It sounds like this transfer could have been done earlier in the week, but the Reds took a while to manage to convince the player to make the move.
