PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari has been backed to complete a move to Arsenal at some point in the future.
That’s according to former PSV and Sparta Rotterdam winger René van der Gijp, and his comments are relayed by Voetbal Zone.
Van der Gijp was analysing the current PSV squad who could make it to the ‘European top’ for Vandaag Inside and this is when he mentioned Arsenal as the destination for Saibari.
At the weekend, we covered claims from Germany which stated Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Manchester United are all showing interest in PSV’s Malik Tillman. It was also said he wants to make a switch to England in the future.
According to Van der Gijp, Tillman won’t be well suited to the Premier League, but his teammate, Saibari, will make it to the top by joining Arsenal.
The former Netherlands international is convinced of the 23-year-old attacking midfielder ending up at the north London club.
“I think I will soon be proven right. The only one in the PSV selection who will reach the European top is Saibari. Just pay attention,” he said.
“And Tillman… That’s also possible, but I don’t think in the Premier League. He could play in Spain or Italy, because he has that phlegmatic quality. But that Saibari, he has such a drive. He has everything for a complete midfielder. He’s just always on the move.
“But with Saibari I really have the feeling that he’ll end up at Arsenal. I’m really convinced of that, yes.”
Earlier this year, former Morocco international Ali Boussaboun had backed his compatriot to move to Arsenal. It’s worth noting there isn’t anything concrete yet about the Gunners’ interest in Saibari.
He managed four goals and six assists from 16 games for the Dutch club this season. The attacker’s deal lasts until 2029 and is valued at €16m by Transfermarkt.
