For the past few weeks, we’ve been covering claims from Argentina saying local clubs are having a hard time signing Marcos Rojo from Manchester United.

Following the interest from Boca Juniors and Estudiantes, the Red Devils have been tough in negotiations, demanding a decent sale and not letting the defender leave on another loan spell.

Now it seems there’s another Argentine player who’s not returning to his home country so easily. That’s Sergio Romero.

Quoted by Olé today, Health Minister Ginés González García, who’s a fanatic Racing Santander supporter, has revealed he called the Manchester United player and asked for his return.

“He explained to me that in England they treat him as a starter and want to sell him as a starter,” said Ginés Gonzalez Garcia, suggesting any move wouldn’t be a cut-price one.

Sergio Romero has 14 appearances for Manchester United this season, being the club’s first option over David De Gea in the Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup. He has a contract with the Red Devils until 2021, with an option to extend it for one further season.
