On Thursday, Gianluca di Marzio and much of the Italian media reported Axel Disasi wants to remain in the Premier League and London specifically, therefore, West Ham emerged as his likely destination.
That ruined the hopes of Fiorentina and others. As a result, La Viola are now turning back to Tottenham for Radu Dragusin.
Friday’s edition of La Nazione reports on Disasi’s desire to stay in England. The newspaper state ‘he will join West Ham’, with Fiorentina admitting defeat. As a result, Dragusin has emerged as Fiorentina’s key target.
The Florence club are willing to try for the Tottenham player ‘until the very end’, subsequently, they’ll let it continue until deadline day if needs be.
AS Roma have tried to sign the defender but have had repeat issues with Spurs and their demands.
Even if Fiorentina are confident about striking an agreement with Tottenham, it would require a big u-turn from the player and his entourage.
West Ham winning isn’t La Viola’s only problem
This is because Dragusin’s agent Florin Manea spoke earlier this month about a preference for Roma. In the process of that, he wasn’t exactly enthusiastic about La Viola.
He said: “There are a couple of offers for him, but Italy is special for Radu. He’s done very well in Serie A. He’s a gladiator, and gladiators thrive in Rome.
“Fiorentina? With all due respect, that wouldn’t be the right path for him. He costs €25m.”
This is why Fiorentina have a lot of work to do to sign the 23-year-old.
One advantage they could have late in the window is the lure of more game time to Dragusin. He has played only once since his return from injury some weeks ago. He would be desperate to play more, especially having been given warnings by his national team.
Either way, it won’t be Axel Disasi, with Fiorentina convinced he’s off to West Ham.
