Jadon Sancho is not everyone’s cup of tea at the moment and, it seems his last performance for Aston Villa has earned another enemy in Italy.
The man is Sky reporter Maurizio Compagnoni, with his comments on the Aston Villa loanee relayed by Tutto Napoli. He was speaking on Radio Marte during Forza Napoli Sempre.
The discussion he was having was about the favourites for Serie A this season. According to him, these are Napoli and Inter Milan, despite Roma sitting top of the table.
That led into a conversation about Napoli and Antonio Conte. The Italian has been perceived as sticking with the same team this season, something Compagnoni disagrees with. His evidence for this was the lack of minutes for Noa Lang so far.
He arrived in the summer in a €25m deal from PSV Eindhoven. At the time of the move, it was reported that it was a choice between him and Sancho.
Sancho, of course, was looking to leave Manchester United. Reports throughout the summer linked him with the Italian champions. A deal never happened as they signed Lang. Sancho instead ended up on loan at Aston Villa.
Compagnoni is pleased that it worked out that way, having recently watched Sancho against Bologna.
“The Englishman is enormously talented, but against Aston Villa against Bologna he was irritating,” he said.
“It seems like he’s doing you a favour on the pitch. Lang has guts, yet he doesn’t play… What can I say: we have to trust Conte, who sees him every day. Aside from the Dutchman, I’d say the manager manages the entire squad well.”
